THE ROCKY MOUNTAINEER TRAIN - BANFF TO KAMLOOPS AND VANCOUVER 13,14/09/2017

The earliest start yet!

We were being picked up at 0705 in the hotel just next door. This meant we needed to be up by 0600 to enable us to pack bags and grab a quick breakfast. Unlike our experience in Toronto when booking on the train the people and systems for the rocky mountaineer were flawless and ran like a military operation. Coaches took us and our luggage to the train where we were met by our team of hosts and hostesses who were going to look after us for the next two days. What a fantastic bunch of people they turned out to be, totally professional and really friendly to boot.

Our blog editor in chief (Gareth) will put in the links that will give you an idea of the route taken and the level of service. (Experience the Unforgettable and prepare to be truly moved! A great overview of the whole train/experience. - Ed)

The root that the train takes! Roger and Lynda started in Banff.

We went for Gold Leaf (an over view of the whole "Gold Leaf" package can be found here - Ed) which meant our own reserved seats in the dome carriage and A la carte food and loads of booze (and this link gives an overview of the on board dining experience and what the Gold Leaf offers in terms of food -Ed)! The information about the route and the surrounding countryside given by the crew was very good.  The photo opportunities were huge and all in all it was a fantastic trip. Just to explain you don't actually sleep on this train and we overnight-ed  in a nice hotel in Kamloops (awesome name - Ed) where our luggage was waiting for us.  Back on the train for a second day with more fantastic views, food and entertainment and not forgetting the booze of course.

Pleased to say that the majority of our fellow passengers were very nice people with some from the UK and Australia, some nice Americans but unfortunately some obnoxious Americans as well.

On arrival in Vancouver we were again taken to our hotel where once again we met up with our luggage.

The pictures below only tell half the story but we hope you get the idea and flavour of this journey.

Haven't we had this one already? - Ed
